21 ways to use old coffee grounds
I produce a lot of used coffee grounds. I used to often put these in a small mug in the back of the fridge to “absorb odors”—but I’m convinced that the effect is negligible, especially in light of the risk of coffee ground spillage and the incredible clean-up hassle that creates.
I also don’t have plants or a garden so can’t really use coffee grounds for these. I pour them down the drain, but our drain just got really clogged yesterday and when I plunged the sink, a lot of coffee grounds got spit up.
But this is worth a try: Dry out the grounds and put them in a sock or stocking and hang them in closets or your car to absorb odors. This I’ve got to try. Because if it does nothing, it impacts nothing in my life. And anything to work on the smell of my car: a malodorous mixture of wet dog and wet rugby players that lingers and blooms through the seasons.
